
Lisa Phillips
director, New Museum
Lisa Phillips is the Toby Devan Lewis Director of the New Museum of Contemporary Art, in New York City, succeeding the museum’s founding director, Marcia Tucker, in 1999.
Before joining the New Museum, Phillips worked at the Whitney Museum of American Art for 23 years, where she began as a Helena Rubenstein fellow in the museum’s independent study program before becoming a curator. Phillips organized over 30 exhibitions while at the Whitney.
